Will I be charged duty or taxes if I'm an international customer?

I ship all orders from my location in New Zealand. If you are an International customer, you are responsible
for any taxes and/or duties that may be assessed by the receiving country to import my
items. Taxes and/or duties are not calculated or added to any order total at the time of purchase. You will need to contact your local customs office to arrange payment and have your goods released

If you refuse to pay any applicable taxes/duties and your parcel gets returned to us as the sender, you will only be issued a refund once the returned items have been received. Any shipping costs are not recoverable and will not be refunded at any time.

My item says it's been delivered but I don't have it, what do I do?

In some very rare cases, packages can be marked as delivered by a carrier before they are physically delivered. We know this can be frustrating, but it may turn up within the next 24 hours.

If not, the first thing to do would be to check round your property in case it was left in an unusual spot. Secondly, check with your neighbours to see if your package has been dropped off there by mistake. If these are unsuccessful, you will need to get in contact with your local carrier to open an investigation.

All packages are sent with tracking numbers and delivery updates enabled in hopes you will receive the most up to date information. Broomstitch is not responsible for any damages or loss during the shipping process.

How can I return an item?

If you're wanting to return an item, please reply to your order confirmation email with the details of your request.

LOCATION

Where are you located?

Wellington, New Zealand

Do you have a physical store?

Broomstitch is currently run from a private home studio and doesn't have a physical brick and mortar store. You may find me at markets or fibre shows in New Zealand and details about these appearances will be posted on this site and my social media channels. The dream is to one day have my products featured in some already established retail stores.

PRODUCTS

Who makes your products?

All items are made, labelled, packed and shipped by me. Occasionally I like to collaborate with other makers, artists, and designers to produce special offers or assist the community.

Where do you source your materials?

All products are sourced by me through preferred vendors, local stores, and other small businesses. I try to source my raw materials as ethically as possible and reduce waste and carbon emissions if I can.

I source my bare yarns from several different wholesalers - some are based in New Zealand and this is clearly stipulated in the product listing, and others are sourced from overseas. I always make sure to source from mulesing free farms.

YARN CARE

How do I use my yarns that come in a skein?

You will need to wind your yarn before you attempt to use it for creating your project to avoid tangling. I offer a cake winding service in the shop if you would like me to take care of this for you for a small fee.

Does the colour run or bleed on your yarns?

While all efforts are taken to ensure the dye is set during the dyeing process, there is a small chance that bleeding might still occur with differences in water chemistry between my studio and your home.

All yarns are washed and rinsed after the dyeing process to remove as much residue as possible.

How do I care for my yarns and finished projects?

It is best to wash in cold water, with a wool-safe detergent to ensure longevity of the colour and the fibres. Other detergents can break down the proteins in the wool and other natural fibres I use. Always dry items flat and out of direct sunlight,

Superwash yarns may be machine washed on a delicate cycle and for the most gentle wash, by hand is the best option. I would not recommend using a dryer or other sources of heat to dry your items.

Disclaimer

Colourways may appear slightly different on your screen than
they do in person, and I have taken every care to ensure the picture on my site
reflect the true colours. Turning up the brightness on your device may help.

As with all hand-dyed yarns, there may be slight variations
between skeins due to differences in dye lots and potential deviations in
application of the dyes. It is recommended you purchase enough yarn for your
project at the one time to ensure you receive skeins from the same dye lot to
maintain some consistency. Alternating your skeins every row or few rows is a
good practice when working on large projects to avoid undesirable colour pooling
or noticeable variations.

Yarns are rinsed and washed after the initial dyeing process,
however, some bleeding may still occur with the first few washes. Handwashing
separately in cold water is recommended and laying items flat to dry will
ensure they maintain their shape.

This yarn comes from a pet friendly household and while care
is taken to remove the potential for allergies, please keep this in mind when
placing your order.
